Giving Every Child a Chance to Learn and Succeed

In Mpumudde, Bugembe, Walukuba-Masese, and Kyamagwa communities of Jinja, many children come from families living below US$ 1 a day therefore face barriers that prevent them from accessing even the most basic education. For orphans, children with disabilities, and those from extremely low-income households, the cost of schooling is often out of reach.

Without support, these children are dropping out of school, engaging in child labor, prostitution, theft and early marriages.

To break this cycle, Oliren Foundation provides direct, practical educational support to ensure that these orphans and vulnerable children not only enrol in school, but also stay and succeed.

Our Key Interventions:

• We provide scholastic materials like books, pens, school bags, pencils, sets
• We pay school fees
• We provide school requirements such as uniforms, shoes, sanitary materials
• We provide support for children with disabilities
• We provide mentorship and follow-up to ensure retention and performance

Despite limited resources, we have made meaningful progress through community support, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support and small partnerships:

• We have supported more than 10 children access education
• We have distributed more than 50 scholastic material packages
• We have paid school fees to the tune of UGX 3,000,000
• More than 20 children have been retained in school who would have otherwise have dropped out

This demonstrates that even limited resources can create real change.

While we celebrate these achievements, the need is still great:

• So many children are still attending schools without books, shoes, bags, pens, sets or uniforms
• Many orphans and vulnerable children are dropping out of school because of unpaid fees
• Several girls are missing school because of lack of basic sanitary support
• Families that are unable to meet even the minimum school requirements have increased
